My approach to tutoring math is from the student’s perspective. Before I offer tutoring in a math subject, I immerse myself in the textbook and material, solving every problem to see the subject anew, through the eyes of a student who is seeing the material for the first time. This way, I can truly understand what students are thinking while struggling through math problems, teach them how to avoid the pitfalls, and guide them toward actions to optimize their own learning.

How I Can Help
Having detailed knowledge of the Common Core math curriculum, and an extensive background in math and engineering, I know that success in math depends upon studying well in advance of tests, keeping notes organized on the page, and doing lots and lots of problems. I can help students who struggle in math or who just need a little extra help. With my constant guidance, students feel more secure and confident in school.
What's Included
Math lessons are individually tailored according to the student’s needs and with consideration for the material in future math courses. Students have access to Atrium Academics proprietary worksheets and materials. Math tutoring sessions are offered one-on-one or in a group, specifically categorized by school and teacher.
Math subjects include elementary level math, middle school math, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Accelerated Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Honors Pre-Calculus, and Statistics.
Option One
Individual Math Tutoring
One-on-one math tutoring sessions are customized for each individual student. Students must learn math according to their teachers’ instructions. Otherwise, it can be very confusing for the student and they may be graded down for not using their teacher’s methods. Therefore, I align my lessons with the methods the teacher uses in class. This way, the student can feel confident in class and on tests. With detailed knowledge about what students will have to understand in the future, and what foundational skills are required, I create extra worksheets to ensure the student is mastering all the material that is required. With one-on-one tutoring with me, students gain an ally in math, and an expert resource in their corner.
Option Two
Group Math Tutoring
Math groups follow along with the students’ math classes, ensuring students understand the material according to their teachers’ specific instruction. As a result, math groups meet at a minimum of once a week. Attention is paid to each individual student to ensure they do not fall behind and have the necessary foundational math skills. Math worksheets are sent home as homework for students who require additional practice for specific math skills. When possible, math groups are conducted in person. Otherwise, they are offered via Zoom. Commitment is one semester at a time.
